Welcome to Clifton

Clifton is a trendy neighborhood located east of downtown Louisville, named because of its hilly location on the Ohio River valley escarpment. Clifton is bounded by I-64, N. Ewing Ave, Brownsboro Road, and Mellwood Ave. and is a favorite urban location for singles, young professionals, families and all!

Clifton's first homes were built in the 1860's and sit next to homes built in the 1910s, although nearly all homes in the area were built in Victorian styles. The Louisville and Lexington toll pike, which is now called Frankfort Avenue, went through the heart of the area and was lined with small shops. The eclectic Clifton neighborhood began to revitalize in the 1990s and has grown around the Frankfort Avenue boutique and antique shops and locally-owned restaurants that are reminiscent of the Bardstown Road / Highlands but without the overwhelming nightlife scene.
